Sustainability
As the definition goes, sustainability is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Long story short, to be sustainable, something has to be good for the people, planet, and economically viable. Therefore sustainability doesn’t mean necessary less comfort or more expensive stuff, means paying more attention and being smarter, while transiting to a circular economy.

Climate Change
In the last one hundred years, we cared so much about our prosperity and comfort in the short term, that we traded the safety of our home. For life to exist and progress we needed just the right amount of heat, energy, and stability for us. Now, we are 11 years away from being in a position where we set off an irreversible chain reaction beyond human control due to global warming. Climate change is currently the world’s biggest threat facing humanity, according to both to United Nations and World Economic Forum and we are not moving fast enough. We have to drastically reduce GHG emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Cities
Today 54% of Earth’s 7 billion people are living in cities. Even though it is occupying just 2% of our planet’s terrain, it is responsible for 75% of worlds energy consumption, 80% of CO2 emissions and it is generating 80% of global GDP. In the next 30 years, urbanization combined with overall population growth will boost the number of inhabitants in cities by 2.5 billion. We have to start readdressing the way cities and human settlements are planned, designed, financed, developed, governed and managed. We need smart cities that are flexible, inclusive, safe and sustainable.

Homes
80% of our life is spent indoor, buildings being critical for our health, safety, productivity and happiness. Billions of people are affected every day by the sick building syndrome. Housing is a person’s most significant investment, and generally, 75% of the total costs come from usage and maintenance of the house. In the EU, buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions, polluting soil, water and air, while also generating a lot of waste. More than 25% of the resources involved in the process of building are thrown away. To create my dream homes, I have developed the CIP Diagram which concentrates on 3 pillars: Concept, Interactions, Product, this being a more holistic approach than just using sustainability standards as BREAM, LEED, LBC or others.
About future, present or past of
In the next 25 years, around 47% of today’s jobs will disappear, and 85% of jobs that will exist in 2030 haven’t been invented yet. Technology will transform products, organizations: the way we design, make and build, use and maintain. Furthermore, it will change us: how we consume, produce or feel. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Nanotechnology together with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality will disrupt all industries, from health to accounting or space travel. Future of … is built today, based on our past.
Energy
Energy is the world’s most important contributor to GHG emissions being responsible for 60% of CO2 emissions while also polluting the soil, water, and air. Today only 20% of global electricity production comes from renewable, and unfortunately, there are still over 1 billion people with no access to electricity. I believe that democratizing energy is the solution to world energy trilemma: energy security, energy equity and environmental sustainability. My dream is creating access for everybody to free clean energy.
